- Organize a CongoSwim BBQ or party
- Be a part of the 8/15 Lake Tahoe Relay in California
- Commit a summer long fitness goal
- Hold a benefit yoga or dance class
STEP 2: Review participation requirements
“By participating in CongoSwim I agree not to sue CongoSwim, its volunteers/agents, beneficiaries nor any CongoSwim affiliates from any loss, liability, damage or cost that may incur due to the training and performance of my activity with CongoSwim. I assume full responsibility for and risk of bodily injury, death or property damage that may result from my participation in CongoSwim. I commit to adhere to safe practices, especially not swimming alone. I further expressly agree that this statement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the law of the state of where my participation takes place. I understand the risks involved and take full responsibility for my participation.”
STEP 3: Register and download your participant pack

Upon completing the online registration form, click the above ‘pay registration’ button to pay it via the donation page. The registration fee is $35 per individual or family (sliding scale) which is made by donating on line or by check. Simply contact us if the amount of the registration fee is an obstacle. The fee will go directly to the overall funds raised for the groups in Congo receiving grants from Global Fund for Women and Friends of the Congo. You may also register by mail. Call 925. 812-2496 for details. Your downloadable participant pack includes:
- information about the beneficiaries
- a sample Letter of Support
- a checklist for preparing and completing your action
If you provide CongoSwim with permission to publish your activity on the list of participants when completing the registration form, you will receive a personalized web-link you for you to send to friends and family.
STEP 4: Set your fundraising goal
Many participants are striving to get at least 20 people to donate a minimum of $25 each. Use social media and the tools in your Participant Pack to educate and encourage friends and family to support you. STEP 5: Complete your action before August 25
You will receive regular updates about who has donated online or by check in honor of your participation. Use the reports to follow-up with people who told you they would donate but have not yet done so. Many of them will appreciate your friendly reminder.
Have fun completing your activity and let everyone know what you and other CongoSwim participants have achieved via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. August 25 has been chosen because CongoSwim originally was created in response to a call to action by the United Nations Women’s campaign to do something on the 25th of every month to help end violence against women and girls. For your ease, your activity can be done anytime over the summer before August 25.
